Learning Beyond Borders: A Virtual Language Exchange Programme
In a groundbreaking initiative, Dr. Abba A. Abba orchestrated a virtual interactive exchange learning program titled "Learning Beyond Borders" between students of English and Literary Studies at the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in Nigeria and students in the Department of English and Applied Linguistics at the University of Reading, UK. The program, held from September to November 2023, aimed to foster a cultural and linguistic bridge between the two academic institutions.

Organised in collaboration with Language and Migration Expert Dr. Tony Capstick, responsible for the Language and Globalization module at the University of Reading, the program delved into the triumphs and travails of the English language in diaspora, with a special focus on its destiny in Nigeria.
The virtual exchange was facilitated in Nigeria through the collaborative efforts of Prof. Lawal Adesina, the Head of Department at FUL, Nigeria, and Olachi Precious Oyim, President of the National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies (NASELS), FUL chapter. Their dedication facilitated a seamless connection between students, fostering a unique learning environment that transcended geographical boundariesE
